Yummy Sunday # 5 - Halo-halo treat

I know i'm late for Yummy Sunday but i would still love to post my entry anyway. I guess better late than never. :) My Aunt just got back from the US and she took me and my cousins at Chowking for Halo-halo. It is a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served cold in a tall glass or bowl.

I just love halo-halo. So delicious! For more Yummy Sunday just click on the badge...

Laziness has gotten over me

I had been too lazy this past few days to do anything and that includes updating my blog. All i did was sleep, eat and sleep. Not productive huh? Well, i guess i'm just taking this opportunity to get enough rest and sleep now that i can still afford to have one. I know when the baby comes out, sleep would be an expensive commodity i have to pay. LOL! By the way, my Aunt just got back from her 6 months vacation in the U.S. last Wednesday and she bought me some cool baby stuffs. I was happy when i saw all those things she bought for my baby. I'm so thankful. Now, my hubby and i will just have to buy a couple of stuffs and we're set by the time my baby arrives.

A sneak peek :)

I had my ultrasound this afternoon. My hubby and i went there together. We were so happy to see the images of the baby. The doctor pointed to us each baby parts. The baby's feature is much clearer to me now as compared to my first ultrasound test which was taken last September. My hubby and i felt the excitement upon seeing our baby. It won't be long and we will finally get to see and hold her in our arms. I'm having a baby girl and she will be named Chloe. I just felt that the name would be perfect for her. According to my physician, i might give birth on the 28th of December. After my ultrasound test, my hubby and i went to the mall to buy some more baby stuffs. I enjoyed buying stuffs for my baby. Now that im nearing my expected due date, i am just filled with so much emotions. I am excited and at the same time scared of the labor process. I really hope and pray that i will have a normal delivery because undergoing cesarian section is very expensive and the healing time is much longer as compared to a normal delivery.

Tribute to a friend

Today is the birthday of my ever dearest friend Payang. She's an amazing friend. I'm so lucky to have her. If it weren't for her i would have not met her cousin who eventually became my husband. :) Love you so much...See you later...LOL!

You were there for me

Words escape me
at this moment
that seems like the end
yet it is only the beginning
when friendships are close
and dreams are far
you were there for me.
Tears fill me
with memories of both good and bad
some nearly forgetton
yet all dear to the heart
you were there for me.
In times of trouble
and in times of thanks
you stood by my side
and held me up.
Through your ever-patient ears
to your comforting hugs
you were there for me.
From that first day
when I saw you and knew
that you would love me for who I was
you were there for me.
And until the day
when we are old and gray
I will always know that
you are there for me.

Today's Flowers # 4 - Orchid

This Orchid is from my mom's garden. She loves flowers and she takes care of them with tender loving care. But after her stroke last May and caused her right side paralysis, she no longer takes care of them personally. So she was so happy to see her Orchids bloom. It really made her smile.

When God Made You

My friend Payang introduced me to this beautiful song. The moment i heard it, i fell in love with the song. It's a very beautiful wedding song and i just love the lyrics, so meaningful. I love listening to it over and over again. Hearing the song makes me think of me and my hubby & how grateful i am to God for giving me a man like him. :) By the way this song is from Natalie Grant.

32 weeks & still counting

Whew! Im now on my 32 weeks of pregnancy. I know i'm getting there already and i have mixed emotions as my expected date draws near. I am excited when it happens but at the same time scared of what i'll be going through when i'll be on labor. I have been reviewing my nursing books regarding the Labor and Delivery process and i've been reading alot from the internet as well. It's my first time so i really don't know what to expect. I can only presume that going into labor is painful and as to what extent, i really don't know. I could only hope and pray that when the time comes,i'll do just fine and that my baby and i will be both healthy.

Today's Flowers # 3 - a Cactus in bloom

Our Cactus Plant is once again in bloom. Clueless as i was before, i didn't even know that cactus can have flowers too. So i was surprised when i first saw one. It was so beautiful. I was enchanted by it. Its flowers opens up only at night and early dawn but closes it's petals in the morning. I had to wake up at early dawn just to take a shot of it because it's the time where it fully blooms.

Scenic Sunday # 2 - Pearl Farm Beach

The Pearl Farm Beach Resort is a private paradise nestled in the quiet side of Samal Island, Philippines. This 14 hectare resort is just a 45 minute boat ride from Davao City Marina Warf. It is called the Pearl Farm because formerly thousands of white-lipped oysters were cultivated for their pink, white, and gold pearls. The first time i visited this beautiful paradise, i was so mesmerized by its beauty that everytime i have the chance to visit Davao, I'd always make a point to visit Pearl Farm Beach resort. Out from the Hospital

Yes you heard it right.I just got out from the hospital today. I was confined for 2 days due to diarrhea and vomiting. When my hubby came home from work Wednesday night, i was already so sick. I had been vomiting for 10 times already and i threw up almost anything i take even water and i had almost 7 trips to the bathroom. It was terrible and my stomach hurts and i had premature contractions. I was really scared. It was almost 12 midnight and my husband was already worried. So he rushed me to the hospital for treatment. If i wasn't pregnant i really wouldn't want to be confined at the hospital but because i have a baby inside me, i had to think of her safety as well. My first night at the hospital was really bad. I had not slept. I was in so much pain. I was so scared but my hubby was right there for me. I know he was worried but he tried not to show it because i was crying already. He wanted to be strong for me and the baby. The next day though, i was already feeling better. My appetite went back and i had fewer contractions already. Felt even better knowing that my baby's health is fine as evident by her normal fetal heartbeat counts and her kicks are even more stronger this time.

It feels good to be home finally. From now on i'd be very extra careful on what i eat. What i do bad to my health now would greatly harm my baby's health as well. I'm just so thankful that i was able to recover and that our hospital bills were not as expensive as i thought it would be. God heard my prayers...

Exhausted from the trip

Yesterday, my hubby and i went to Iligan City to visit my parents. It was also my father's birthday. The trip to Iligan is just and hour & a half drive but now that I'm 7 months pregnant it seems as though the trip was very long. But when i saw my parents, it brought smiles on my face. I missed them alot. My dog Borgy, was jumping up and down when he saw me. He must have missed me too. LOL! Too bad we had to leave early this morning because my husband has work. I always feel a lump in my throat after every visits to my parents. I really wish that they just leave nearby so i can check on them as often as i could. Someday, i'd like to buy a house for them here in Cagayan de Oro. So anyway, the trip back here got me exhausted and i slept the whole afternoon. I even had to miss posting my entry for the Weekend snapshot cause i was too tired to get up. I guess I'll just have to join next week. Although i feel exhausted, my trip back home was all worth it.

Today's Flower # 2- a White Rose means...

White roses can mean many things to different people. The white rose glorifies a love that is unaware of the temptations of the flesh and resides only in the soul. As opposed to the red rose that speaks of passionate promises, the meaning of a white rose is in its simplicity and pristine purity.

Sometimes called "the flower of light", one of the meanings of white roses is everlasting love - love stronger than death, an eternal love, undying and all sustaining. White rose speaks of a love that is sustained more by loyalty, reverence and humility than by red-blooded passion. So, in its capacity to worship someone till death, the meaning of a white rose is unchanging loyalty that endures beyond all else.

The first white roses i got was given to me by my boyfriend who eventually became my husband. If you'd like to join Today's Flowers, just visit the site.

A career move

My husband has been considering on finding another job. He's no longer happy with his present job and he wants a higher salary offer now that we're going to have a baby soon. We've been praying for a good opportunity to come. Then the other day, he got a text message from his brother-in-law informing him that the company he's working with BOUNTY-AGRO VENTURES is hiring Sales Specialist. What's good about the offer is that aside from the good salary, he will be getting incentives. So this morning, my hubby took time to submit his application letter along with his bio-data. After an hour, we got a call from the company and he was asked if he could come back in the afternoon for the interview. I saw from him how determined he is to get that job. He went to the interview and right after then, he called to tell me that the interview went well. He was told to come back next week for the exam. The manager even asked my husband, how long will it take for him to resign his present job, to which he replied that he'd be given atleast 5 days. We are both hoping and praying he'd get the job. This may be the career move his been waiting for.

Healed wounds...

Yesterday i wasn't quite feeling well. I had a bad headache and i felt a little dizzy. It was a rainy day yesterday and my thoughts were wandering. I guess the rain made me into a lot of thinking.LOL! It made me assess and reflect on how my relationship with my hubby started and how it evolved. As i looked back, it got me thinking about the good and not so good memories we had in our relationship. When we started out as boyfriend-girlfriend thing, we were very happy. Everything was so beautiful. It seems as though the world could do no wrong to our relationship. But after 3 mos, he had to go back to Manila to work while i was left here in Cagayan de Oro. I took it real hard and i remember crying hard when he left. Despite the distance, our communication was never a problem. But i demanded more of his time and we argue alot about it. I cried everytime we have a heated argument. We both tried to make our relationship work because we both loved each other. After a year, our relationship was shaky. We always argue. I was always doubting him, i was so clingy and so demanding and i guess he got fed up one day & he called me up and decided that we both need space to think things over. I remember how painful that was for me. I cried night and day, day and night. I ran to my family and friends for support but the pain was just too much. I could not accept that i was losing him. I turned off my phone for 2 days but it made me miss him more. Then on the third day, i finally opened it and he called. We talked and he was sorry for hurting me. He said he still loves me. We got back together and the rest is history. He came back home here last February and i'm now married to him and we're expecting a baby next year. I'm happy with this new chapter of my life with him. He's a loving man and I'm so thankful to God for giving him to me. I know the past wounds have healed but there are times when i remember it and i could still feel a little pain. I talked to him about it last night, he just hugged me and told me that all of that is in the past. What's important is that we both learned from that episode in our relationship and that we both survived from those trials and at the end of it all we emerged as winners because we stood the test of times..."True Love Conquers All".

A new look for My Own World

These past few weeks i have been contemplating on changing my blog template. I have searched for sites offering free blog templates but it seems i just couldn't find what i wanted. So in the end i found a few templates offered in some sites and i settled for this. It's simple and i like it because it's a 3 column template but still i haven't found the right one yet. I'm still continuing my search but until then this will be the new look of MY OWN WORLD.

im just bored...

It's one of these days again when i feel totally bored with my pregnancy. I often ask myself if there's something wrong with me. I looked up the internet to find articles regarding boredom at pregnancy and the reasons why it happens and I found the answers to my query. It says " Many women become tired of being pregnant during the third trimester, and some even earlier. What's exciting and new during the first few weeks and months of pregnancy can become pretty tedious by the sixth or seventh month."

There's nothing particularly thrilling about having to roll out of bed sideways, groan everytime i stand up and go to the comfort room about 20 times a day or more and even having to wake up at wee hours of the night just to pee. These are just but some reasons why it is enough to wipe the rosy glow from even the most excited mom-to-be. According to the articles i've read, they suggested that it's time for me to enjoy the last few months of pre-baby freedom because during the months (and years!) after my baby is born, time for myself will be a precious commodity. The article suggested a few ideas on how to savor the time left before the baby comes out.

• Make dates with friends. Enjoy a good in-depth chat with your best friend over lunch or coffee.

• Streamline your space. Clean out your files, sift through the junk in the kitchen drawer, or put those boxed-up prints in the loft into photo albums. There's plenty of organising you can do around the house that won't strain you physically, and once you're in mummy-mode you'll be grateful for the reduced clutter.

• Pamper yourself. If you can possibly afford it, a pregnancy massage at a reputable spa is well worth the money. For a less expensive treat, have a soothing pedicure or facial instead.

• Set up time-savers. Make an appointment for a new, easy-to-manage haircut, collect takeaway menus from restaurants near your home, and set up an online bank account so that you can manage your finances easily.

• Connect with your partner. Enjoy some peaceful, romantic dinners together - whether you head out to a restaurant or snuggle up at home with comfort food - and focus on each other while you can.

• Indulge in some retail therapy. Treat yourself to a pretty new maternity bra or some elegant pumps to wear in late pregnancy.

• Do some exercise. Go for a gentle swim at your local pool and enjoy the sensation of being able to float! You'll burn some calories, will feel invigorated and it will help you to sleep better afterwards. If swimming isn't your thing, go for a stroll in the fresh air instead.

• Escape to another world. Tuck in to a nice big novel or rent a few DVDs that sweep you off your feet into another place or time.

Out of those ideas the article suggested, i should at least give it a try. I guess it will do me good and it will help me manage my boredom.

Watery Wednesay # 1- Cool spring water

This is my first entry to Watery Wednesday. These are my cousins having fun at Timoga Spring in Iligan City, Philippines. The splashing of the cold water made it hard for them to strike as what they call their "HUNK" pose..LOL!
